ATEEDA

Ian Stevenson, December 2009 to present , www.ateeda.com

Ian started working with ATEEDA on a Market Assessment Study as part of his Saltire Fellowship year in 2009, and was subsequently retained to assist with tasks including developing marketing materials, arranging attendance at tradeshows and manning the stand, and preaparing materials for investors. Ian also leads development and evaluation of algorithms for new products.

Loc8er

Ian Stevenson and Ruth Stevenson, August 2010 to present

Loc8er has a well defined hardware product in an industry where hardware providers are typically commoditised and work at a very slim margin. Ian has worked with the team to develop a business model around the core product that has the potential for long term profitability, and is proving attractive to potential investors. Ian continues to provide support for business planning and fundraising activity.

Ruth is supporting research with customers to validate and refine the proposed business model, and to establish the desirability of different options and features. This has taken the form of Focus Groups delivering insight into how customers think and talk about the product, and placing questions on a national omnibus survey of 2000+ respondents to test pricing and demand.

Cytomos

Ian Stevenson, 2010 to present

Ian started working with Cytomos after meeting the founder at an Edinburgh University event. He has played an informal role, helping with planning and the direction of early work to explore possible markets. Ian has also been able to make introductions to other sources of support and advice.

Contemplate Ltd

Ian provides a broad range of support to Contemplate as interim Business Development Director. This includes developing product ideas around the core technology and getting these out to potential customers to evaluate their attractiveness. Contemplate are currently running an "early adopters" programme, and Ian has made use of his extensive network to make introductions to contacts in industry.

Other activities have included supporting recruitment to develop the team, helping with business planning and burn rate management, positioning for license negotiations, and preparing the business for investment.

Ian was commissioned to produce a market assessment report for Contemplate's technology, funded by the University of Edinburgh as part of their spin-out incubation activity. Isla contributed to analysis of competitors and the competitive landscape, and Ruth supported the design and reporting of primary research which collected responses from over 100 professionals. The report continues to guide Contemplate strategy.

Ian also provided general support for business operations, including pitching to and gaining the support of the High Growth Startup Unit at Scottish Enterprise, and Ian was subsequently retained by Contemplate to continue this support.
