Payment

Salient Point can accept payment for standard products in the following ways:

  • Through PayPal, the webs leading online payment system accepting all major credit and debit cards.
  • Direct transfer to a UK bank account using BACS (usually available through your online or telephone banking system).
  • Cheque or Postal Order in UK Pounds.

Orders will not be completed until payment is received and funds are cleared into SalientPoints accounts. With PayPal this is effectively instant and therefore this is the quickest way to pay for your order

Customers wishing to pay by direct transfer or cheque will be sent account or address details as applicable after their order has been placed.

Please contact us if you have any questions or wish to pay through another means - we will try to help. Please note that we do not accept Purchase Orders or offer credit for software purchases.

Delivery

All of our software is available for free download from our website. The download will be functional but will have some restrictions, documented in the QuickStart guide.

When you buy software components from SalientPoint, we use your public key to generate a license which you can incorporate into your assemblies. All other software is activated via the internet or by an unlock code. This will remove the restrictions that apply to the download.

We do not yet have an automated delivery system for software licenses and unlock codes - we do have one in development which we hope to introduce shortly.  This will automate the delivery of Standard and Site licenses.

We aim to send out most licenses and unlock codes within 24 hours of payment being received, however, we can only guarantee to service orders within 7 (UK) working days.

Licenses

We offer a number of different types of licenses for our products:

  • Trial licenses allow a single user to evaluate a product.
  • Standard licenses cover a single user, or a single developer, to use the product.
  • Site licenses cover all of the users on a site.
  • Source Code licenses are available only for software components, and allow an organisation access to the source code. This may be modified and the resulting components redistributed as part of a product.
  • Non-Commercial licenses are standard licenses restricted to use by charitable or educational organisations, available for a discounted price at the discretion of Salient Point (proof of status required).

Please read our license agreement carefully before purchasing to ensure that you understand what it contains, and to ensure that the license you are buying will be suitable for you.

We are proud of the quality of our work, and we use industry leading development practices and tools. A combination of static analysis, unit testing, profiling and field testing on our on projects ensures that our products are of the highest quality.

To add to our own view on the quality of our products, they are all available to download for evaluation before you buy. This means that you can assure yourself that they will meet your needs both in terms of functionality and quality.

Software Protection

We use software protection technology to protect our intellectual property, but we promise that we will not use this to restrict or prevent any legitimate use of our software. If our software protection technology causes problems to a customer, we will manually issue additional licenses to solve the problem or issue a refund under our guarantee.

Licenses for end user software will be issued over the internet or in the form of an unlock code. Some products may require you to provide us with system information before we can generate the unlock code. For these products, you may need to contact us if you wish to use the product on a different system in the future.

Licenses for software components require that the assembly you use to call our component is to have a strong name. We will require you to provide us with your public key for us to generate the license. The license takes the form of an attribute to be added to your assembly.

Where we request system or public key information, we will inform you on the order page.  All of our download packages include a tool to help you obtain the necessary information, along with an explanation of why it is safe for you to provide the information we request.

Product Updates

When you buy from Salient Point, we provide updates free of charge for the life of the product. This includes updates to fix bugs, updates to add new features, and updates to support new versions of the .NET platform or tools.

Updates will be made available through our website from time to time for download - you will not need a new license or unlock code to use the update. Where compatible with our privacy policy, we will notify our customers of the availability of product updates.

Improvements & Customisation

If you have any ideas for improvements to any of our products, or for products you would like to see us offering please get in touch.

If we do not think it is appropriate to make changes to our standard products to support your requirements, you may wish to consider using our services to develop a custom product, or add custom functionality.

An alternative for customers wishing to customise our component products is to take out a source code license. This will allow you to make the changes yourself, and distribute the results as part of your product.
