Working with startups, I am acutely aware of the tension between executing like hell (vital) and getting appropriate professional advice (also vital).

This story from Ben Horowitz shows how a bit of common sense and caution kept him out of jail while others served 6 months: 

I also have personal experience of working with (un)professional advisors who have given me advice which sounded too good to be true, and when checked with HMRC proved to be just plain wrong – so it definitely happens here too.

Let’s all keep out of jail folks – if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
